We have over 20 staff employed at the Airdrie Edge Gymnastics Club including coaches as well as administrative employees. All of our coaching staff are trained and certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) as well as in accordance to the standards set by the Alberta Gymnastics Federation (AGF).

Coaches must attend multiple courses at each level and complete a rigorous practical component to become certified. Our coaches take First-Aid training annually and are also certified in Respect-in-Sport and Making Ethical Decisions courses. The coaching certification processes progression can be seen below.

For each of the courses below, a coach becomes trained first, then can become certified after further assessment from AGF or NCCP.

ActiveStart: Certification tailored to pre-school aged gymnasts.

Progression: ActiveStart has only one coaching level.

Trampoline Gymnastics: Certification for the use of trampolines and other equipment used in Competitive Trampoline and Tumbling such as Double Mini Trampoline.

Progression: Gymnastics Foundations (GF) Trampoline, Competitive Intro (CI) Trampoline, CI Trampoline Advanced, Competitive Development Trampoline Advanced

Artistic Gymnastics: Certification for the practice of gymnastics using equipment such as bars, beams, vault, and floor. This certification program progresses towards teaching Competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG). This section also included Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), which aids in the teaching of pommel horse, rings, high bar, and parallel bars.

Progression: Gymnastics Foundations (GF) Artistic, Competitive Intro (CI) Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), CI WAG Advanced, Competitive Development WAG

Parkour: Certification for the practice of parkour using equipment such as hard surface boxes, walls, bars, ledges, and other obstacles. This parkour program was written and developed for Alberta Gymnastics Federation by Airdrie Edge coaches Brody Atkin and Jared Atkin.

Progression: Parkour Foundations, Parkour Intermediate.
